Josh and Gracie’s Grand Superior Lodge wedding was the kind of day that reminds me why couples fall in love with the North Shore in the first place. Moody skies, powerful Lake Superior waves, and that wild, beautiful shoreline just outside Two Harbors created the perfect backdrop for a wedding that felt deeply personal, outdoorsy, and romantic.
From the moment I arrived, you could tell this place meant something special to them. Josh and Gracie actually got engaged just five minutes away from their venue, and their love for Lake Superior played a huge role in how they planned their day.
If you’ve ever visited the North Shore, you know there’s just something about it. The lake has a quiet power to it. And that feeling carried throughout their entire wedding day.

The morning started with the cozy, relaxed atmosphere that makes Grand Superior Lodge such a great wedding venue. The lodge sits right along the lake, surrounded by trees and rocky shoreline, so everywhere you turn you’re reminded you’re somewhere special.
Gracie got ready surrounded by her bridesmaids wearing beautiful dusty rose dresses that perfectly matched the fall color palette they chose: terracotta, pink, white, and deep blue tones inspired by the season. Her gown from Fringe & Lace by Brittany was absolutely stunning and had the perfect mix of elegance and texture for a North Shore wedding.
Instead of doing a traditional first look, Josh and Gracie chose to share a first touch so they could pray together before the ceremony. It was one of those quiet, emotional moments where you could really feel the meaning behind the day.

Their ceremony took place right at Grand Superior Lodge, with Lake Superior stretching out behind them.
The weather felt exactly like a North Shore fall day should. It was cloudy and a little windy, and the waves were moving quickly across the lake. Instead of feeling gloomy, it made the entire atmosphere feel even more romantic and dramatic.
One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was when family gathered around them to pray over their marriage. It was such a powerful moment that really showed how important faith and family are to them.
Their Grand Superior Lodge wedding wasn’t just about the two of them — it was about the community surrounding them as they started this new chapter together.

Josh and Gracie are a couple who truly love being outdoors. They enjoy fishing together, spending time along the shoreline, and exploring the North Shore with their dog.
That love showed up in so many little ways throughout their day.
One detail I loved was the bouquet Gracie made herself using Sola flowers. It was beautifully crafted and added a handmade, personal touch to the day that felt perfectly in line with the rustic, outdoorsy vibe of their wedding.
Every part of the design felt intentional while still allowing the natural beauty of the lake and forest to take center stage.

My favorite part of this Grand Superior Lodge wedding was when we stepped away for portraits along the rocky shoreline.
Lake Superior was alive that afternoon — the wind moving through the trees and waves rolling across the water. The scenery was dramatic and beautiful, but Josh and Gracie made it feel incredibly intimate.
They were completely in their element there.
Moments like that are exactly why couples choose to get married on the North Shore. It’s not just a backdrop — it becomes part of the story.

Along with photographing their day, I also brought my videographer so we could create a wedding film that tells their story from start to finish.
Having both photo and video allowed us to capture not just how the day looked, but how it felt — the wind off the lake, the emotion during the ceremony, and the joy of celebrating with all their favorite people.
And hearing their reaction afterward meant so much to me:
“I cannot recommend Jess enough for future weddings on the North Shore! We wanted our photographer to capture not only the beauty of the North Shore, but also our love for the shore since it is a big part of our story… I still find myself coming to tears when I look at my wedding photos.”
That’s always the goal — photos and film that bring you right back to the feeling of the day.

If you’re dreaming of a Grand Superior Lodge wedding or planning a North Shore celebration of your own, it’s truly one of the most beautiful places to get married in Minnesota.
Between the lake views, the cozy lodge atmosphere, and the incredible shoreline, it creates a setting that feels both intimate and unforgettable.
